An easy tutorial to create a sketch effect on any picture you want, perfect for beginners to intermediate Adobe Photoshop users.

1. First open the image you want to use, for example i have used an image of myself.




2. Duplicate the image/photo layer (i have called mine copy 1).




3. Selcect the copy layer and then go to image>>adjustments>>desaturate (below is how my image now looks)




4. Next duplicate the 'copy 1' (desaturated layer), i have called mine 'copy 2'.Select the Copy 2 layer and invert the layer, image>>adjustments>>ivert or alternatively 'ctrl+i'




5. Select the 'copy 2' layer in the layers palette and using the drop down 'blending mode' list choose color dodge.



Here is what the image now looks like, (it will be mostly white):




6. Finally select the 'copy2' layer and go to 'filter>>blur>>gaussian blur', a radius of between 1 - 9 worked best, toy with the radius interger to see which works best for you.




7. An effective image has now been created.
